This allows it to mount completely flush with the wall. See the last pic in the listing for reference. It shows the back of the piece. (Cubby shelf is upside down in pic) You simply fasten the unfinished board to the wall. Then you hang the angled board on the back of the piece over it. It a very easy way to hang it.
